Introductory Woodturning Experience

Using locally sourced native trees, learn how to use the lathe, sharpen tools, sand and finish your very own pendant under the expert guidance of Pádraig. You will be greeted with freshly homemade scones and tea/coffee on arrival. Trust us to take great care of you and to provide you with a memorable immersive experience.

Learn about our Neolithic Ancestry

Create a Celtic Pendant, a craft inherited from our Neolithic ancestors dating back 3,000 years. Your birth month is translated into Ogham (ancient Irish writing) and etched onto the pendant before it is laced and set in a beautiful presentation pouch ready to take home.

What to expect from your experience...
A Warm Welcome
Arrive into the carpark at Bluebell Lane Glamping, where you will be welcomed by Pádraig Carragher at 10:30am and treated to some homemade scones, tea/coffee. The woodturning studio is just a short walk from here.
Demonstration & Getting Started
In a restored centuries old mill Pádraig demonstrates the ancient craft of woodturning to create a Celtic Pendant, a craft inherited from our Neolithic ancestors dating back 3,000 years. Using locally sourced native trees from his 26 acre private woodland learn how to use the lathe, sand and polish to create your very own Celtic Pendant. No previous experience is required and you will be supplied with everything necessary on the day.
Experience the Neolithic Ancestry of the Ring of Gullion
Set on 26 acres, with over 20,000 native trees creating a beautiful private woodland filled with local wildlife and a sustainable raw material for woodturning production (re-plantled and maintained by Bluebell). Stroll through the beautiful woodland and hear how these trees have been used in woodturning for centuries throughout Ireland while enjoying the fresh country air and surrounding beauty of Slieve Gullion.
Pendant Personalised Touch
After arriving back from our stroll, your birth month is translated into Ogham (ancient Irish writing) and etched onto the pendant before it is laced and set in a beautiful presentation box ready to take home. Your experience will be completed by 1:30pm.
