What to expect from your experience...
A Warm Welcome
Arrive at Bluebell Lane Glamping for 10:30am, where you will be welcomed by Pádraig Carragher in the Bluebell Lane carpark. You will walk a short distance to our woodturning studio where you will receive Tea and Coffee and some fresh homemade scones, have an informal chat and get settled in for a creative day ahead.
Demonstration
You will be given a demonstration and explanation of the tools, machines, and materials at the centre of this wholesome experience. Pádraig will guide you by demonstrating on his lathe before you begin and as you progress on your own. No previous experience is required, and you will be supplied with everything necessary on the day.
Woodturning - First Stages
You will begin the first stages of turning the bottom of your Bowl based on the guidance of the earlier demonstration. This will take us up to lunch time (approx. 2pm) where we will break for an hour.
A Hearty Dinner, Woodland Tour And The Iron Age Roundhouse
After the initial woodturning stages, we will make our way over to our communal kitchen at Bluebell for lunch. After lunch we will take a short stroll through our native woodland and observe the different trees and their usages in woodturning. We will visit the Celtic Iron age roundhouse and see how our ancestors used these same materials to build their homes.
Woodturning - Second Stages
Around 3pm, we will arrive back at the studio for the second stage of the woodturning demonstration. Again, just as before, you will carry out these stages and complete of your bowl.
A Final Touch - The Makers Name
Using a pyrography pen, you can burnish a special message or name on the bottom of your Celtic Bowl to give some extra meaning to the art that you have created. Your experience will finish no later than 5:30pm.
